Postharvest Technologies of Fresh Citrus Fruit: Advances and Recent Developments for the Loss Reduction during Handling and Storage

چکیده

Citrus spp. are spread mainly in the Mediterranean basin and represent largest fruit source for human consumption. Postharvest losses, due to diseases metabolic disorders of fruits, can cause severe wastage, reaching 30 50% total production. Preserving quality extending shelf life essential objectives postharvest technological innovation, determined by proper handling, treatment, storage transport harvested produce. Moreover, application novel sustainable strategies is critical reduction synthetic fungicide residues on surfaces impact environment caused waste disposal fungicides. In this article, current knowledge about safest more strategies, as well advanced handling technologies, will be critically reviewed.
